All five have proven they have what it takes to be race winners in the SR1 Cup, so it remains all to play for in the two Donington National races.
2018 champion James Pinkerton leads the standings. A victory and a third place finish at Brands Hatch two weeks ago allowed him to extend the lead he built in the first half of the season, but he couldn’t pull out of reach of his title rivals. Pinkerton’s closest rival, Ross Elliot, promises to be one to watch this weekend, having taken two podiums from the SR1 Cup’s last visit to Donington Park at the end of 2019. Just behind the duo are Mackenzie Walker, Will Hunt, and Dean Warriner, all aiming for strong results to edge ahead and snatch the title.
Outside the main title fight, Simon Bailey and Ian Ellis will go head to head in the fight for the Fangio Trophy. Only 22 points separate the pair after a victory for Bailey at Brands Hatch. Former SR1 Cup drivers will also be in action this weekend. SR3 regulars Brian and John Caudwell will return to the SR1 Cup for a one off appearance after last racing in 2013. Qualifying for race one begins at 9:05 am, with the race one at 11.45 am. For live timing click the button below.
Elsewhere, 2019 champion Shane Stoney joins his SR3 competitors John MacLeod and Tom Ashton in RAW Motorsport outfit at the Brikett 6 Hours at Silverstone. Radical Challenge team competitors Neil Glover & Jason Green, and Matt Jones & Joe Crook will also be in action at the event.
