After the opening salvo one week previous at Road Atlanta, the field ‘virtually’ crossed the Atlantic for the closest round of the series to Radical’s Peterborough HQ. A truly diverse field of eleven different nationalities, all competing in the original, visceral SR8 Supersport.
UK-based iRacer Dan Webster commanded a lights-to-flag victory, after scooping a 1:54.6 pole lap, a superb time both virtually and in the real-world. Alongside him on the front row was Road Atlanta victor Zachary Woollen and both were challenged by Canadian single-seater ace Alex Ellis throughout the race. Indy Lights racer and Turn3 team principal Peter Dempsey qualified fourth but a spin on the fourth lap dropped the Irishman out of contention, promoting multiple Radical champion Bradley Smith to fourth. Smith in turn had a spin but was able to retake the place from Dempsey in the latter stages of the race.
Elsewhere in the top ten, there was a close four-way scrap between Radical’s real-world racers. Blue Marble Cocktails Cup North America competitor Jordan Missig, SRT3 trackdayer Jay Kullar, 2019 SR1 Cup Rookie champion Mark Tranter and Radical Challenge vice-champion Jerome de Sadeleer battled for position throughout the race, broadcast live on https://www.radicalsportscars.com/ and on Radical TV, Radical’s YouTube channel. You can review all the action from the race again in the video below.
There’s now a two-week break before action recommences, drivers clocking up the virtual air miles as the series returns back across the Atlantic to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, better known as Mosport.
